LIMBERLOST LTD. Shipping & Billing Policy Payment is accepted only via Visa, MasterCard or money order. Sorry, we cannot accept personal cheques. Prices do not include shipping. Insured shipping usually equates to 12% to 15% of the order value within Canada or the continental United States. "A common carrier is a business that transports people, goods, or services and offers its services to the general public under license or authority provided by a regulatory body" (Wikipedia). Myers Transport, Consolidated Transport, Manatoulin Transport, etc., are some of the better-known carriers. Courier service (such as UPS, FedEx, etc.) is a spin-off from the common carrier industry. We have had far too many experiences in the past where the use of couriers (such as UPS, PUROLATOR, FEDEX etc.) often inflicted significant damage and many times even total destruction of the goods being shipped. More often than not, the courier involved would then deny all insurance claims as the couriers all self-insure. Their claim was "insufficient packing material" as the sole reason for the loss. Their decision is final and they provide no recourse to their decision. For this reason, Limberlost strongly recommends the use of common carriers (see definition) as our method of shipping. Common carriers package orders on skids which are then shrink-wrapped for delivery. The wrapped skid stays intact until delivered. To date, we have experienced no damage with this method of shipping. This is expensive for a single piece, but significantly more economical as the number of pieces increases. Multiple pieces shipped via common carrier often cost less than the same shipment by courier. We will ship single pieces through couriers such as UPS, Purolator, or FedEx if requested, but cannot accept responsibility or liability if product is damaged in transit. Please call to discuss. All orders are billed in Canadian dollars. Use our convenient currency converter located on the home page of our web site to convert our Canadian pricing to your currency requirements. Canadian orders will have the federal / provincial sales tax added to the order. Wooden furniture is totally exempt from duties entering into the United States under the U.S. / Canadian Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). |
